The Superior Curling Club offers several different leagues throughout the week, including traditional four-person teams, Canadian Triples, and Doubles. Drop-in Leagues allow individuals to show up and form teams on the spot.
The following leagues are available:
Junior Program
Little Rockers
Sunday Junior Program Starts at 1:00 PM with a 1-hours session for "Little Rockers" which is meant for children up to about 12 years old (based more on experience level than age). This session is beginner level with focus on fundamentals of curling.
Junior Curling
Junior Curling continues with a session from 2:00 - 3:30 PM for curlers age 12 to 18. This session continues to focus on fundamentals of curling, but will also discuss strategy, training techniques, and how to develop skills and good sportsmanship for bonspiels and other competition.
Sunday Night Drop-In and Beginner League Session I
A social league to learn and practice your skills. First hour is instruction and practice ice. Afterwards, individuals can create teams or come as a team for a game. Meant for all levels, even those who have never curled before. Join us on any Sunday.
The first session with instruction time runs from Nov 3rd to Jan 5th. Second session from Jan 5th to March 9th with an end of season Bonspiel.
The Commissioner is Kat Guillen.
Monday Night Open
Monday night's league along with Tuesday is comprised of more competative teams. This is an open league, so there are no rules as to the gender makeup of each team.
The first draws begin at 6 PM, with a second draw starting between 7:30 and 8 PM.
The buzzer will be in effect this year. Once the buzzer sounds, finish the end you are in and the game wil be over. An end is considered complete and a new end starts once the all rocks have come to a full stop. Games will end after the final end (based on the buzzer or number of ends) regarless of the score. In other words, games can end in ties.
The commissioner of this league this year is Mike O'Brien and can be contacted at [email protected] or 218-393-6095.
Good Curling!
Tuesday Afternoon Triples Drop In
Tuesday Night Open
Tuesday night's league is probably the next-most competitive of the week (after Mondays), with teams consisting of a mix of new and experienced curlers. This is an open league, so there are no rules as to the gender makeup of each team.
The first draw begin at 6:00pm, with the second starting as soon as ice is available and prepared.
The commissioner of this league this year is Mick Stein [email protected]
Wednesday Night Open
Wednesday night is kind of our "rec/fun league" (not that the others aren't a lot of fun!) where many new curlers (mixed in with experienced teammates) gain some experience. This is an open league, so there are no rules as to the gender makeup of each team.
Most games will start at 6:00 pm with one later game at 7:30 PM. Games are normally six ends.
The commissioner of this league this year Dave Podratz.
Thursday Night Mixed
Thursday is our Mixed League. Teams must consist of two women and two men. This is a social league, which includes dinner and social time hosted by a different team each week.
The first draw starts at 6pm, and the second at approximately 8pm.
The Commissioner of this league is Dale Olson.
Friday Night Two on Two
Doubles League
Teams are comprised of two people typically male/female, but any gender combination is allowed. Games are 6 ends and generally follow mixed doubles rules except as specified here. Games are scheduled to accomodate bonspiels and other club events, resulting in about 2 Fridays per month. Mona O'Brien is the league comissioner and can be contacted at mikeandmona@msn,com.
